| Current Activities |
The research I currently work on is focused on thermal expansion of sprayed coatings. My research has demonstrated several new findings including irreversible changes in many sprayed coatings during the first heat cycle.
The principal objective of my studies is understanding the behavior, and therefore performance of coatings subjected to thermal strains, as well as the evolution of their microstructure (sintering of interfaces, annealing of defects, stress relief) during heat cycles for coatings used in high temperature applications such as boilers, gas turbines, and aeroengines. Characterization studies are being carried out on samples processed within the framework of "process maps" on pure metals (Al, Cu, Ag, Ni), alloys (NiCr, bond coats), and ceramic coatings (YSZ, Al2O3, etc).
