I
am currently appointed as a post-doctoral associate
at Stony Brook University. The main focus of the research
is the contact and fracture mechanical properties of
metallic and ceramic/metallic (Cermet) coatings, linking
process-property-performance relationships. The research
projects are surface restoration of damaged Ti6-V4-Al
and Ni-based superalloy substrates via TS processes,
and inelastic deformation mechanism of HVOF WC-Co coatings.
I am currently investigating the effect of intrinsic
coating residual stress to its contact mechanical properties
including performance and wear characteristics. Additionally,
I have developed and improvised several versatile yet
robust mechanical tests for TS coatings during my graduate
study at Stony Brook University, including extractin
of elastic modulus via elastic indentation method. I
am also actively involved in Stony Brook University
based Thermal Spray Technology Consortium (managing
damage tolerant cluster).
